The Design Process and Scope of Work
Phase 1- Development of Project Parameters
- Initial meeting to identify expectations, needs, budget and time
- Check zoning and neighborhood restrictions
- Take field dimensions (measure house)
- Identify structural, electrical, HVAC and plumbing needs/requirements
- Identify any customer furniture to plan around
- Take ”before” pictures
Phase 2 – Conceptual Design and Space planning
- Draft floor plans and exteriors based on measurements
- Develop space plan solutions for the home based on project requirements
- Present designs in a working meeting
- Assist in developing a budget for the project based on the space plans and exterior designs.
Phase 3 – Construction Drawings
Develop working drawing for the project which could include:
- floor plans
- lighting and electrical plans
- foundation plan
- roof plan
- exterior designs
- interior elevations of cabinets
- sections and details
- written specifications for the project
Phase 4 – Structural Engineering
Coordinate our plans with the structural engineer for any structural requirements of the project (foundation, beams, trusses, piers, roof, etc.) to be included in our working drawings.
Phase 5 – Product Selections and Interior Design
Assist in the selection and specification of all products for the home. These include, but are not limited to the following:
- cabinets
- countertops
- flooring
- tile
- appliances
- plumbing fixtures
- light fixtures
- moldings
- exterior materials
- hardware
Phase 6 – Construction
Serve as a liaison between the general contractor and the homeowner as required.
